Sup Monks!
Unfortunately, PhD literature review work got the better of me this week, and I wasn’t able to finish the essay on Plotinus…
I feel I have brought great shame to my dojo, but it’s also a massive topic, so I need an extra week not to make a ‘hames of it (pls).
Hopefully, after this essay, having mapped out the Neoplatonist spiritual journey, we can examine other important meta-narratives of human life like Christianity (through the work of St Augustine) and Jungian Psychoanalysis through Alchemy, the Philosopher’s Stone and Hermetic Philosophy, which might actually just be middle platonism, and start to make some connections.
Once that’s fully fleshed out, we will contextualise why this explicit self-development framework is necessary, looking at the attention economy, the rising of pseudo-religious ideologies, and a little more meaning crisis kung fu.
So we have a full itinerary, to say the least…
In other news, here is a video I uploaded this week on quitting drinking pints by prioritising flow states:
And in the news of “Waiting For The Offo” the Saturday night show has sold out!
And less than 50% of tickets remain for the Friday evening and Saturday Matinee so if you’re coming, definitely get your tickets early 👇
PS As a parting word, have you ever seen someone with one of those “live, laugh, Love” posters and thought “wow, what a maroon”?
Well, turns out the original quote (one of the possible original quotes) is actually pretty sick and comes from none other than the Irish Mestro himself, James Joyce:
All the best,
Mahon.
