It's not a failure on your part. It's an achievement just to approach a topic of this scale with the coherent intelligence you write with here. The digital transformation of our lives reminds me of automobiles, electric lights and so much else we take for granted now but that so restructured humanity. I wonder what a writer like J.G. Ballard might have done with it.

Thanks Erik! I totally agree with the comparison with the automobile and electric lights and we're in the middle of it! I have no read JG Ballard but will have to check him out - if you have any recommendations let me know

High-Rise and Crash are most apt (characters living in and obsessed/possessed by the technology around them); Empire of the Sun is a beautiful, autobiographical retelling of his WWII experience as a child.
