Sup Monks!
Platonism has been a real revelation for me in the last few years. What was an ever more considerable breakthrough was realising that what Plato meant by ‘The Good’ was what Christians call ‘God’. (Bye-bye Atheism).
DC Schindler was one of the thinkers who helped me to make that connection between pagan philosophy and Christian thought, and it is a great honour to have him on the podcast to discuss this insight.
D. C. Schindler is professor of metaphysics and anthropology at the John Paul II Institute, Washington, DC. He is the author of eleven books, including Freedom from Reality: The Diabolical Character of Modern Liberty (University of Notre Dame Press, 2017) (get his books here).
In this podcast, we are discussing his book ‘Plato’s Critique of impure reason’, reading dramatic literature as philosophy, connecting Platonism and Christianity, finding good in western civilisation again, how St Patrick changed ancient Celtic laws, and much more!
